  • Big Sky ski rental shops have experienced slower business today because warm weather has limited terrain, but officials remain hopeful as a snow advisory is expected next week—tourism stays strong despite fewer rentals.  KBZK

EDUCATION NEWS

  • MSU dean Sally Mudiamu was named one of four AIEA Presidential Fellows on Tuesday, Dec. 16 + the fellowship will offer mentorship and help expand international programs to boost student global learning and workforce readiness.  Bozeman Magazine
  • The MSU Bookstore in Bozeman is preparing to offer new Cat-Griz merchandise including T-shirts, long sleeves, crewnecks and hoodies at campus and stadium locations this Saturday + proceeds will help lower textbook costs for students.  MontanaRightNow

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Tuesday, Dec. 16, the U.S. Department of Commerce announced that Montana State University hosted a new USPTO Community Engagement Office to support local inventors and workforce development across Montana and seven other states. The office joins hubs in Dallas and San Francisco to provide tailored patent and trademark services.  Bozeman Magazine
  • Wednesday’s heavy winds caused limited damage in Bozeman as the City Forestry Division handled only two fallen trees while most Christmas spiders stayed standing. Residents are reminded to have their trees inspected annually by a certified arborist and report any storm damage.  KBZK

  • The Honey Hole Bar and Game Room at Field and Stream Hotel is hosting Bobcat football watch parties this season and will kick off with the second Cat-Griz game this Saturday by offering $1.25 wings, Pabst Blue Ribbon, and fun games (like pool and darts) to bring the community together.  MontanaRightNow
