COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Residents are invited to submit photos of their holiday decorations for the contest hosted by KBZK and KXLF, entering via email or Facebook Messenger. Entries are accepted through Sunday, Dec. 21, with winners from each viewing area announced Dec. 22.  KBZK
  • Bozeman healthcare worker Kris Twum has expanded her holiday stocking drive from Gallatin Rest Home to include Meals on Wheels clients, providing seniors with essentials like hygiene products and gift cards until Dec. 15 (donations have been slower amid a tight financial climate).  KBZK

CULTURE NEWS

  • Montana State student Jack Schnepf shows his self-portrait and quantum-inspired paintings at Big Sky gallery and the MSU Helen E. Copeland Gallery (his work turns complex science into art). He will graduate on Friday, Dec. 12 and take on new local projects.  Bozeman Magazine

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Montana State photography intern Jack Powers (known for his work at local NCAA events) will graduate tomorrow at Brick Breeden Fieldhouse and plans a trip to Antarctica to pursue a career in sports and political photography.  Bozeman Magazine

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks data shows that the deer and elk season from Oct. 25 through Nov. 30 had mixed results as mild weather made game hard to find in southwestern Montana + check stations in areas like Alder and Cameron recorded varied harvest numbers.  Bozeman Magazine

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Montana DOT has reduced vacancies from 30% to 4% and will use rotating crews and specialized tow plow operators to clear Bozeman roads this winter. Phillip Shepherd from Tennessee is set to work 12 weeks in Bozeman clearing two lanes over 4,311 plow miles.  KBZK

  • Local photographer Jeff Krogstad (MSU alum) has spent 15 seasons capturing Bobcat football games from the sidelines. He is optimistic for Friday night’s game against Stephen F. Austin as his lighter frame helps him capture dynamic shots (blue and gold spirit) to share online.  MontanaRightNow
