Good morning, Bozeman.
🏘️ Community
Windhorse Equine Learning must raise $175,000 by Dec.
31 to buy its home (off Johnson Road), securing the Bozeman nonprofit's barn and allowing plans for a larger arena, classroom space, and year-round programs to serve 40 to 50% more children.
Introduce yourself to new neighbors within their first week and leave a handwritten card with your name, house number, phone, and one specific offer; follow up with a ready-to-eat gift, a short card of local tips, or an invite to a nearby event to help them settle in.
Bozeman lifting clubs can plan a community powerlifting meet by first choosing rules, booking a venue with a solid platform and warm-up area, and opening registration eight to ten weeks before the event (set a firm deadline two weeks out); recruit referees, loaders, and AED-trained volunteers and hold a walkthrough.
🚧 Accidents
Gallatin County Sheriff Search and Rescue volunteers rescued a hunter with a broken leg and ankle on Sunday after a request to assist a party more than 10 miles from the Mill Creek Trailhead in the Absaroka Range (Heli-Alpine and Comms teams flew through fog, stabilized him, and took him to a nearby hospital).
🎓 Education
Fairfield native Kyona Yeager received the American FFA Degree in Indianapolis after years raising and showing cattle as her supervised agricultural experience, and she is pursuing an associate degree in animal science with plans to return to her family’s 8,000-head feedlot and mentor young FFA members.
🏛️ Government
Crews are making additional asphalt repairs at the Jackrabbit Lane and Main Street railroad crossing in Belgrade, closing southbound Jackrabbit and reducing northbound to one lane while nearby businesses face access issues; MDT says it expects the fixes to be completed this week.
The Montana Public Service Commission met in Helena on Tuesday, Oct.
27 and voted 3-2 to delay a final decision on NorthWestern Energy’s merger with Black Hills Energy until Nov. 10. Commissioners said the extra time is to consider a proposed condition ensuring Montana retail customers could access 370 MW of Colstrip power (if least-cost).
📰 Lifestyle
Turn a quiet corner into a warm reading spot with a comfy chair, a direct lamp, nearby book storage, and a side table for your drink, and add a blanket or small heater placed three feet from fabrics for safety before the first big snow (LED bulbs save energy).
Before your next Bozeman show, build an outfit around one signature piece, layer for changing temperatures, pick shoes you can stand in, tuck a warm layer for the walk home, and bring music-friendly earplugs.
