- ➤ Gas prices in Montana dropped by 0.9¢ to $3.06 per gallon as of Monday, Oct. 20, 2025 — prices were 8.9¢ lower than a month ago and 12.5¢ lower than last year. The national average fell by 4.1¢ to $2.98 per gallon over the same period. KBZK
ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ Montana DEQ released a 25-page draft guidance for greenhouse gas assessments following the Held lawsuit and is accepting public comment until Oct. 30 — the guidance requires assessments for projects burning coal, oil or gas and provides tools to measure both direct and indirect impacts — with public listening sessions set next week in Billings, Missoula and Helena. - ➤ The Headwaters Rest Area in Three Forks is closed again as rainstorms have caused the expansive clay soil to shift sidewalks and let water into the building. Officials plan to meet today to set a reopening timeline — they will also add flip signs to show if the site is open. KBZK

- ➤ Two Montana health research groups are warning that if Congress does not extend enhanced subsidies for the Affordable Care Act, insurance premiums may rise sharply—potentially doubling or tripling for some families. KFF estimates that as open enrollment begins Nov. 1, many consumers could soon face much higher costs—raising concerns over increased uninsured rates. KBZK
