Good morning, Bozeman. Here's your local news at a glance for Saturday, the 18th of October.

COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Boomer is a nine-year-old senior pup at the Heart of the Valley Animal Shelter in Bozeman who spent a month there and is now looking for his forever home. He enjoys walks, scratches, and turkey jerky treats.  KBZK
  • The No Kings protest returns downtown today as organizers expect thousands to gather from 12 p.m. to 1 p.m. on Main Street (between Rouse and Willson Avenues) while police plan to maintain a visible presence, and local businesses (including shop owners) anticipate some disruption to normal activities.  KBZK

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Bozeman's No Kings protest will bring thousands to Main Street today as volunteers from Indivisible, including Kay LaFrance and Beth Kampschror, lead a peaceful rally against local policies like illegal tariffs on farmers and cuts to hospital funding. Organizers say the non-partisan event will honor the First Amendment—ensuring community safety while voicing concerns.  KBZK
  • Headwaters Community Housing Trust questioned the proposed WARD ballot initiative—set for November ballots—which would require one-third of new homes to be affordable as a recent poll showed 77% of Bozeman voters are affected by the housing shortage, with executive director Nathan Stein warning that the measure could drive up housing costs by imposing costly development requirements.  KBZK

HEALTH NEWS

  • Billings Clinic and Bozeman Health announced an expanded collaboration on Oct 15 to boost patient access at the Bozeman medical campus on Wellness Way in west Bozeman. The two systems have begun joint planning to add outpatient and surgical services—building on shared ownership of undeveloped land while remaining independently operated.  MontanaRightNow
