- ➤ Montana State University held a ceremony on Indigenous Peoples Day to honor activist Elouise Cobell — who led a class-action suit that secured a $3.4 billion settlement — by unveiling the Elouise Cobell Garden Arbor at American Indian Hall. The design used Montana-sourced materials to mark her lasting impact on Native rights. KBZK

- ➤ Gas prices in Montana fell 4.9¢ per gallon over the past week to an average of $3.07 as of Monday, Oct. 13—prices are 14.2¢ lower than a month ago and 11.3¢ lower than last year. KBZK

- ➤ On Sept 29—two archery hunters fired handguns after a grizzly approached their elk carcass in Taylor Fork, and on Oct 3 a hunter used bear spray when a bear charged him near Big Sky. Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks reviewed both encounters and offered safety tips for hunters during the fall season. KBZK
