BUSINESS NEWS

  • Belgrade is growing as Montana’s first Rivian electric car dealership opens—adding a repair shop that joins new hotels and stores. City planners said more details will be announced soon about a fast food chain to open near Mackenzie River Pizza.  KBZK

ECONOMY NEWS

  • MTN compared grocery prices at three Bozeman stores—WinCo Foods, Smith’s, and Town & Country—for bananas, toilet paper, milk, and eggs; WinCo Foods had the lowest total at $11.95 while Town & Country had the highest at $17.56, and MTN will continue monitoring prices.  KBZK

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Will Powell of Weed Eaters LLC uses his herd of goats to clear weeds and brush from steep, rocky areas in St. Ignatius—providing a green alternative to pesticides and traditional mowers. The goats target unwanted shrubs, aiding in fire mitigation and reducing chemical use.  KBZK

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Bozeman Mayor Terry Cunningham posthumously awarded the key to the city to traffic engineer Ralph Zimmer for over 40 years of work improving bike and pedestrian safety. Zimmer served on many local and state committees — his efforts advanced safer streets in our community.  KBZK
  • Gallatin County officials say local elections in Bozeman, Belgrade and West Yellowstone, plus a Belgrade Elementary school bond vote, require voter registration by October 6, and those missing the deadline can register in person on election day. Mail-in ballots must include the voter’s birthdate on the envelope as required by House Bill 7-19 + residents can check their registration status online.  MontanaRightNow
  • Turning Point USA will hold a free event at Brick Breeden Fieldhouse on MSU campus on October 7 featuring biotech entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy and Gov. Gianforte following founder Charlie Kirk’s death (he was killed on a campus in Utah). MSU Police said security will be enhanced with metal detectors and a no-bag rule, and campus surface lots will open for parking after 6 p.m.  KBZK
