  • Governor Greg Gianforte welcomed Eshylon Scientific to Bozeman as the company opened a semiconductor facility focused on research, development and manufacturing—an initial $1 million investment that will grow as it hires engineering graduates from Montana State University and expands its workforce beyond four employees.  MontanaRightNow

CRIME NEWS

  • Austin Clowes, 25, pleaded not guilty to the murder charge for killing Steven Kilwein, who died June 13th in his Bozeman home—DNA from his pajama bottoms linked Clowes—and his bail is set at $1 million with a hearing scheduled for August 28th at 9:30 a.m.  KBZK

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • After Big Timber stopped selling water on August 11, Crazy Mountain Ranch began hauling 145,000 gallons weekly from a source at Four Corners—nearly 50 miles away—to irrigate its controversial golf course. The ranch will also buy water from Boulder and Columbus while Big Timber works on a new bulk water policy.  KBZK
  • On Thursday, the Montana Fish and Wildlife Commission updated wolf hunting rules in Big Sky Country that raised the state quota from 334 to 458 and increased the tag limit per person from 10 to 15 for hunting and trapping. The rules set a statewide quota of 452 with 60 reserved for southwestern Montana—hunters must also bring unwanted skulls and pelts to FWP for proper handling.  KBZK
  • Bozeman City Hall renovations are nearly complete and focus on improving safety—such as a glass barrier in the finance area—and boosting energy efficiency by updating the interior. City officials say work began months ago and that staff will move back by mid-September when the changes finish.  KBZK

  • State officials confirmed a harmful algal bloom in Hebgen Reservoir’s Rainbow Point Campground — warning residents to avoid water contact as exposure can lead to serious health symptoms such as muscle twitching and convulsions.  KBZK
