ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • A Cessna 340 crashed at Bozeman Yellowstone Airport Tuesday after its right landing gear collapsed on landing—no one was hurt as a flight was diverted and the runway reopened just after 1 p.m.  KBZK

CRIME NEWS

  • The trial of Jordan Palmer, charged with shooting his neighbor Stephan Campbell, continued with Belgrade police and a toxicologist saying Campbell’s blood alcohol level was .301 when drawn at the hospital — Palmer pleaded not guilty to deliberate homicide after he said Campbell attacked him on April 19.  KBZK

EDUCATION NEWS

  • International Cultural Exchange Services is looking for 10 or more host families to care for exchange students who will attend local high schools this fall and during the 2025—2026 school year in Bozeman, Belgrade, Manhattan, Three Forks, and Livingston. Volunteers must provide meals, a bed, and support while completing an application by August 15.  Bozeman Magazine

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • The Gallatin Valley Backcountry Horsemen volunteer group clears trails in Montana's backcountry every week so locals can enjoy nature without heavy manual work—trained pack horses help carry their equipment and navigate steep obstacles on trails like Porcupine and Elkhorn.  KBZK
  • Bridger Bowl experienced a major landslide last Tuesday that swept across the ski area—crews cleared debris and inspected slopes, and no lifts or buildings were damaged, keeping ski season on track.  KBZK
  • Dave Matthews performed at Wildlands Festival on August 1 and 2 and helped raise $1.3 million for Montana conservation—funds that support American Rivers and the Center for Large Landscape Conservation in Bozeman.   • The Bozeman City Commission reconsidered the six-story Boutique Hotel proposal on Tuesday, August 5th after a 2024 vote had rejected the plan. The proposal would convert a parking lot into a lobby, restaurant, event space and rooftop bar — while commissioners and local businesses raised concerns over flood risks, green space and parking.  KBZK
