ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • Three people died when a plane crashed near West Yellowstone last week—FAA and NTSB are investigating the incident.  KBZK

CULTURE NEWS

  • Individual tickets for the Bozeman Symphony’s 2025-26 Classical, Presents, and Symphonic Choir series are now on sale. The 58th season starts mid-September with Sounds of America I: Marsalis and Rachmaninoff and features concerts with renowned guest artists and a world premiere by composer Stephanie Ann Boyd — additional programs are scheduled throughout the season.  Bozeman Magazine

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The Bozeman City Commission will hear an update on Ordinance 2172 (addressing homeless camping in public areas) Tuesday night. Community engagement coordinator Mark Bond said that while visible homelessness may look reduced, actual numbers are rising (with a 36% increase in Gallatin County and shelter waitlists doubling between 2023 and 2024), and Homeward Point Shelter is scheduled to open by the end of August.  MontanaRightNow
  • The Montana Department of Natural Resources & Conservation filed a lawsuit against Crazy Mountain Ranch over its illegal water use on its 18 hole golf course after local ranchers filed 12 formal complaints. Crazy Mountain Ranch said it is following legal water requirements and began trucking in water while officials warned that further irrigation could lead to daily fines.  KBZK
  • Gov. Gianforte's office released a draft five-year waiver request that would add work requirements and monthly premiums to Montana’s Medicaid expansion. The waiver requires enrollees to complete 80 hours of community activities each month and sets public meetings next week—starting with a virtual tribal consultation on July 29 from 3 to 5 p.m.  KBZK

SPORTS NEWS

  • Football coaches and players from all 12 Big Sky teams gathered Monday at Northern Quest Resort & Casino in Spokane, Wash for media day, where Montana State was named the preseason favorite—Adam Jones earned preseason offensive MVP honors. Big Sky commissioner Tom Wistrcill announced plans to expand the 2026 schedule to include nine conference games as Sacramento State prepares for its final season in the league.  KBZK
