Good morning, Bozeman. Here's your local news at a glance for Thursday, the 17th of July.

BUSINESS NEWS

  • Local business owners on 19th are struggling with blocked access and missed appointments because of road work that began last Monday, which has led to heavy traffic and limited parking. City officials say paving is ahead of schedule and may be done by the end of the week — letting businesses like Alpine Dental hope for a quick return to normal operations.  KBZK

CRIME NEWS

  • Shante Maurice Anthony, 47, from California pleaded guilty in March for selling meth and fentanyl in Bozeman and was sentenced to 180 months in prison after DEA evidence from text messages & calls and a postal search confirmed he flew to Bozeman frequently since 2022 with a five-year supervised release pending.  KBZK

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Fishing restrictions will begin today at 2 p.m. on the Big Hole, East Gallatin, Gallatin and Lower Shields rivers—anglers cannot fish from 2 p.m. to midnight until conditions improve. Earlier today, a full angling closure started at 12 a.m. on the Madison River upstream of Hebgen Reservoir near West Yellowstone, replacing the previous rule to protect fish from high water temperatures and low flows.  Bozeman Magazine

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The Bozeman City Commission voted Tuesday evening to adopt the Pride flag as an official city flag after public comment—restoring its display outside City Hall following its removal in May due to state law. The move does not replace the longtime city flag—aligning Bozeman with other Montana cities that have taken similar steps.  KBZK
