  • Residents blocked the private section of Bozeman Hill Road near the Jackson Creek exit after drivers took a shortcut following a multi-vehicle accident on I-90—Randy Schott said the block, which was organized on Facebook, aimed to prevent unsafe rollovers on the gravel road.  KBZK

BUSINESS NEWS

  • MTN News reported Monday that two high-altitude Thunderhead Balloon Systems from Aerostar were seen floating over Montana as part of research flights to test new sensor and communication technology. Aerostar said the balloons carry up to 200 pounds of gear—developing methods to support emergency cell service and monitoring efforts.  KBZK

ECONOMY NEWS

  • Leaders with the Montana Food Bank Network warned that federal SNAP changes in the One Big Bill could cut benefits for 12,000+ to 30,000 Montanans, leaving food banks unable to meet rising demand amid higher living costs. Helena Food Share reported an 11% increase in pantry visits and record daily shoppers in June+ community groups are already stepping in to support those affected.  KBZK

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The City of Bozeman announced that the design phase for the Fowler Avenue Connection Project, which will extend Fowler Avenue from Oak Street to Huffine Lane, will conclude in spring as residents voice mixed opinions on lower cross traffic versus losing local green space — a neighborhood walk with a Q&A on the proposal is planned for Wednesday night.  KBZK
  • On Tuesday evening, Bozeman city commissioners received over two hours of public comment on a state flag law that restricts the Pride flag on government buildings—forcing them to postpone several agenda items for further review. Residents voiced strong opinions as the commissioners prepared to recap the recent legislative session.  KBZK
