CRIME NEWS

  • George, a longtime cat at Bear Canyon Campground near Bozeman, was stolen last Friday when a woman in a grey Nissan Altima was caught on surveillance video. The family, led by Ian Burgard, offered a $1,000 reward for any information and urged anyone with tips to call (406) 587-1575.  KBZK

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • NorthWestern Energy defended its request to raise electric and gas rates on Monday, June 9th as state regulators opened a weeklong Montana Public Service Commission hearing after a partial settlement with intervenors. The utility said the proposal would add about $4.63 a month for electric and $4.74 for gas while key issues like recovering costs for a new power plant remain under review—critics say ratepayers should not pay for risky investments.  KBZK

HEALTH NEWS

  • Gallatin County health officials confirmed an 11th measles case on June 5 and said that exposure in Bozeman occurred at Ramirez Mexican Food, On Mission Thrift, Cash 4 Clothes on June 3 (from 12:30 to 3:30 p.m.), Town & Country on June 2 (from 12:30 to 3:30 p.m.), Ace Hardware on June 1 (from 5:45 to 7:45 p.m.), and Casey’s Corner on May 20 (from 7 to 10 a.m.). REAL ESTATE NEWS

  • Bozeman’s rental market is growing with high rents and limited housing, and experts say local landlords can learn from the UK’s Build to Rent models—which use technology and professional management to offer more stable tenant experiences.
