  • Montana marijuana business owners are facing testing delays as Fidelity Diagnostics in Missoula remains the only lab processing products after Nordic Labs in Bozeman halted pesticide analysis due to deficiencies.   • The Gallatin County Sheriff's Office arrested career criminal Leodis Roach on June 4 near the North 19th Avenue exit on eastbound Interstate 90 for a Portland federal warrant—two associates were also taken into custody as the investigation continues.  MontanaRightNow

  • Melissa Bowman from Montana Ballet Company said elite dancers including those from NY Ballet Company will perform in Connections on Friday, June 13th at 7 p.m. at Willson Auditorium + the event will showcase exceptional professional artistry.  KBZK

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • The Banana Lake Fire near Plains off Montana Highway 28 burned 833 acres and reached 25% containment as of Thursday, June 5. Firefighters — 236 personnel with 14 engines and two helicopters — are patrolling containment lines and mopping up around structures while drivers on Highway 28 are advised to slow down.  KBZK
  • Gallatin County honored Mike Ellig on June 3 by awarding him the Outstanding Noxious Weed Management Award for his innovative work managing invasive plants along the Gallatin River. Ellig uses chemical, mechanical and holistic treatments—methods that show his deep commitment to proactive land management on his conservation easement.  Bozeman Magazine

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • After more than ten years of planning, Big Sky broke ground on a new $19 million fire station funded by Spanish Peaks residents through a Rural Improvement District—Division Chief Jeff Bolton said the facility will boost emergency response and help with local insurance challenges. The project will improve community safety and aims to attract more firefighters to live in the area.  KBZK
  • Gallatin County is planning a model zoning code to promote affordable housing in areas with the needed infrastructure and is asking residents to share input through a survey and public workshops. The county will host a workshop on June 17 at Monforton Elementary School and another on June 18 at the Community Center in Gallatin Gateway — local views will help shape future zoning changes.  Bozeman Magazine
