Good morning, Bozeman. Here's your local news at a glance for Saturday, the 24th of May.

COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Jim Hawthorne from Yellowstone Alliance Adventures met with Jane on May 23 to discuss nonprofit changes—its cabins will be remodeled and overhauled. The group will hold a groundbreaking ceremony today at 1 p.m. to start the renovations.  KBZK

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Bozeman police have increased patrols ahead of Memorial Day weekend during 100 Deadliest Days—an upcoming period when traffic fatalities usually rise. Officers advise drivers to use a sober driver or rideshare service if they plan to drink and to follow all safety guidelines.  KBZK
  • In Montana, workers paid state income taxes on tips starting in 2024 after a change in state law, and new federal bills could restore the old tax-free treatment if approved. Sen. Greg Hertz explained that the state tax system automatically follows federal rules—so any change made at the federal level will affect Montana workers.  KBZK
  • Bozeman city crews began constructing a new splash pad at Story Mill Park (a park designed for families) this past Monday and are also building a parking lot to serve more visitors. The city will finish both projects by the end of summer while adding screening (with lilacs and fences) to shield nearby homes.  KBZK
