CRIME NEWS

  • Local law enforcement reported that road rage is a frequent issue in Gallatin County, as last Tuesday a driver tailgated a couple while brandishing a machete near Springhill Road which led to a high-speed chase and arrest—while on Monday a separate incident on the I-90 off-ramp resulted in a fight and one man receiving medical attention.  KBZK

EDUCATION NEWS

  • The Bozeman Schools Foundation established the Patrice Lee Parks Memorial Scholarship to award a $1,500 grant to a resilient graduating senior—nearly 20 students applied and Gallatin High School senior Isabella Determan will attend Lehigh University this fall.  KBZK

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Interagency Bison Management Plan partners met on May 14 to review bison management in Yellowstone and community members voiced different opinions on balancing wildlife movement with agricultural needs—officials plan to safely transfer 150 bison nearing the end of quarantine to accessible lands. GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Gallatin County courts sent postcards to nearly 13,000 residents to consider jury duty for the 2025–2026 term, with District Court notices sent last week and Justice Court notifications planned for this week. Those receiving District Court postcards must return their questionnaire within ten days while Justice Court recipients have seven days—prompt replies will help avoid legal delays.  KBZK
  • Montana Department of Transportation & CK May Excavating will conduct rock removal on I-90 near Bozeman Pass on Tuesday, May 20, with a 30-minute closure scheduled between 9:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. Travelers should expect delays of up to one hour as flaggers direct traffic under single-lane conditions after the work.  MontanaRightNow
