COMMUNITY NEWS

  • One Valley Community Foundation’s eleventh Give Big Gallatin Valley event raised over $2.8 million for 259 nonprofits in Gallatin County from more than 5,500 donors during a campaign that lasted 24 hours on May 1 and 2; the fundraiser marked a major milestone as the initiative has raised over $20 million since 2015.  Bozeman Magazine

ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • On May 3rd at 6:32 p.m., a hiker stranded on Baldy Mountain got stuck in deep snow between the Bridger Ridge and Sipes Canyon trailhead and suffered minor leg injuries from exposure. Gallatin County Sheriff’s Office and GCSSAR arranged a helicopter rescue that flew the hiker to the Bozeman Fairgrounds, and a courtesy ride later brought the hiker to a hotel—rescuers said the quick response helped avoid further risk of hypothermia.  Bozeman Magazine

  • The Downtown Bozeman Partnership reported extensive graffiti vandalism on several businesses Monday night, and crews began removing the graffiti & assessing damage as business owners expressed concern over repair costs.  MontanaRightNow
  • On May 6, 2025, multiple law enforcement agencies pursued a suspect after a road rage incident in Bozeman when a weapon was reportedly brandished—after a Bozeman police vehicle was struck and one officer sustained non-life-threatening injuries, one male suspect is now in custody as the investigation continues.  Bozeman Magazine

CULTURE NEWS

  • Students at MSU's School of Art created artist books that show more than 400 cases of metal and wooden type using historic letterpress methods. Professor Ashley Fuchs and her team organized the collection (with pieces dating back to the 1850s) and will use book sales to fund trips for students.  Bozeman Magazine

  • Maribeth Ault is the first female game warden to win the Shikar Safari Wildlife Officer of the Year Award for Montana — she was honored by Lieutenant Governor Juras and MWFP Director Christ Clark during a surprise ceremony.  KBZK
  • The Bozeman City Commission appointed Interim City Manager Chuck Winn as the permanent City Manager on Wednesday. He will officially take on the role after the City Commission confirms his appointment on May 13.  MontanaRightNow
