Good morning, Bozeman. Here's your local news at a glance for Wednesday, the 9th of April.

BUSINESS NEWS

  • Owner Missy Severson of Antique Barn said her Facebook account was hacked last month, which led to fraudulent posts, forced credit card cancellations, and disrupted her business communications—she now faces challenges promoting the Saturday open house as she plans to quit Facebook. GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Montana lawmakers have debated ending the twice yearly clock change in sessions from 2009 to 2023 and requested a draft bill for 2025 that did not move forward. In 2021, the legislature approved Senate Bill 254 to allow year‐round daylight saving time—if the federal government and three other western states agree—so Montanans still change their clocks twice a year.  KBZK
  • Senate Bill 319, a measure to expand doula care by making certification programs more accessible and adding Medicaid coverage so low-income families pay less, passed the Senate and is now waiting in the House. If approved, the bill will take effect Jan. 1, 2026—supporting Indigenous expecting families and others in need of these services.  KBZK

HEALTH NEWS

  • Montana State University associate professor Cara Palmer received $3.3 million from the National Institutes of Health to lead a five-year study on whether children’s sleep habits affect their mental health. The study—set at the Sleep and Development Lab—will track local kids ages 8 to 12 over several experiments, and families interested in joining should contact her.  Bozeman Magazine
