ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • A multiple-vehicle crash occurred Tuesday morning on Highway 191 north at the intersection of Cobb Hill Road near Four Corners—one fatality was reported and traffic lanes were blocked.  KBZK

BUSINESS NEWS

  • The parent company of Big Sky Resort will pay $25 million to settle a class action lawsuit brought by condo owners in three Big Sky properties—owners argue that the mandatory management program is illegal and the 50% fee is far above normal rates.   • A 19-year-old man from Belgrade was arrested in Bozeman — he is accused of attempted murder.  MontanaRightNow

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Montana public schools will get $52.1 million more to boost programs and teacher salaries. The law—requested by the Governor's Office of Budget and Program Planning and proposed by Rep. David Bedey—will take effect July 1.  KBZK

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • At Bozeman’s Walmart on 7th Avenue, recycling bins will be removed this week for safety and congestion reasons, the Gallatin Solid Waste Management District said. After removal, recycled materials will go to local landfills while residents are advised to use other recycling options (like the city's curbside program and local private services).  KBZK

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Bozeman Municipal Court has seen an increase in interpreter services, especially for Spanish, as Judge Karolina Tierney noted in her State of the Courts address to the City Commission. The court uses Language Link and Montana Language Services to ensure full participation and its language service spend covers about 4% of the city's budget for 2025.  MontanaRightNow
  • The Montana Senate voted April 1 to punish former Senate President Jason Ellsworth by removing him from all committees and permanently barring him from the Senate floor after an ethics investigation into his role in a 170,000 contract with a longtime business associate. Forty-four of 50 senators approved the measure after an expulsion vote fell short (the Senate chose punishment instead of full expulsion).  KBZK

  • Gallatin County commissioners are preparing for a hearing on an affordable housing complex that requires $57 million, and a Bozeman economic manager said the county must contribute $2.5 million while the city adds $2 million.
