Good morning, Bozeman. Here's your local news at a glance for Saturday, the 29th of March.

ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • On Monday, a Bozeman woman's apartment flooded with about a foot of water when a pile of snow blocked a creek causing a rapid rise in water levels, and her renter's insurance did not cover the damage—her employer has arranged temporary housing while restoration is expected to take at least six weeks.  KBZK

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • On March 28th, Montana Supreme Court heard arguments on whether to enforce a recommended 90-day suspension for Attorney General Knudsen—issued after he mishandled internal emails during a dispute between the Legislature and the judiciary. The court took no immediate action and will review the ethical issues raised by both sides.  KBZK
  • On Friday, legislators in the Montana Senate debated three House Bills aimed at changing wolf management in the state. One bill would allow unlimited wolf hunting if the population exceeds 550, another would extend the hunting season into spring, and a third would let Fish and Wildlife change methods using thermal imagery—each passed a Senate reading and awaits a third vote before final approval.  KBZK
  • House Bill 267, known as Bobby's Law, is being debated in the legislature to add a new crime for killing while driving under the influence—named after Bobby Dewbre who was killed by a drunk driver—with penalties including a minimum three-year sentence and fines up to $50,000. Supporters and family members testified at a Senate Judiciary Committee hearing, and a vote on the bill is expected next week.  MontanaRightNow
