COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Bozeman Senior Center has adjusted its budget for Meals on Wheels and congregate meals as state and federal funding changes raise uncertainty. The center has cut work and kitchen hours and raised the donation request from $5 to $7—measures designed to support housebound seniors.  MontanaRightNow

CULTURE NEWS

  • Bluegrass musician Billy Strings will perform at Bozeman's Brick Breeden Fieldhouse on August 15th and will play at the Adams Center in Missoula on August 16th. His tour returns him to Montana following sold-out nights at the KettleHouse Amphitheater in 2022.  KBZK

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Montana State University is searching for a new president after President Cruzado left and students voiced hope the new leader would build on her work. Interviews for the two candidates began Tuesday and faculty, staff, students and alumni are invited to join an upcoming open forum.  KBZK

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Rep. Scott DeMarois proposed new blue posts for emergency vehicles along the interstate to mark an 'Authorized Vehicle Only' crossover in 500 feet (a change that did not need a bill) to help first responders reach accident sites faster. The Montana Department of Transportation has installed 2,500 posts so far and will complete placing them statewide soon.  KBZK
  • Bozeman Mayor Terry Cunningham gave his State of the City address on Monday, detailing plans for growth, housing incentives, and enhanced community services along with a new Diversity, Equity and Inclusion plan. He will deliver the address again today at Chief Joseph Middle School at 6 p.m. to further outline the city's future strategy.  KBZK

HEALTH NEWS

  • Montana state health officials are closely monitoring a U.S. measles outbreak and urging residents to get vaccinated to protect themselves. More than 378 cases were reported across 18 states as of March 20—while no cases have been reported in Montana since 1990.  KBZK
  • Smiles Across Montana is offering a free dental clinic in Bozeman for people without dental insurance at Grace Bible Church near campus; the clinic runs from today through March 28 (9 a.m. to 5 p.m.) and includes an extra session on March 29 (9 a.m. to 1 p.m.) that will provide exams, cleanings, x-rays, extractions, fillings and restorative services. Walk-ins are accepted during clinic hours.  KBZK
