  • Blue Collar Restaurant Group switched its Bozeman restaurants from seed oils to beef tallow and natural fats on Monday, March 24th—aiming to offer healthier and tastier meals. Chef Mikey Lawrence said the change reduced seed oils while keeping some in items like premade French fries to maintain flavor.  Bozeman Magazine

CRIME NEWS

  • On March 4, 2025, US Border Patrol agents in the Havre Sector arrested a US citizen for smuggling three illegal aliens linked to the Tren de Aragua gang—he will be prosecuted under federal law—and on Wednesday, ICE apprehended six alleged gang members in Gallatin County following months of drug task force investigation.  KBZK

  • Montana farmers are worried about new tariffs on farm products from China, Canada — and Mexico that could hurt their wheat and lentil exports. They fear the trade war will drive down prices and destabilize long-standing markets as export opportunities shrink.  KBZK

  • Montana State University will host two presidential candidates next week—Dr. Kurt Schnier will be interviewed today and tomorrow while Dr. Brock Tessman visits on March 27-28. GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • On March 24th, the Montana Senate debated disciplining former Senate president Jason Ellsworth but the vote to expel him failed to reach the two-thirds needed+ Ellsworth apologized for his actions as party lines split on the issue.  KBZK
  • Helena-based reporter Chuck Johnson, who covered 22 legislative sessions and worked with multiple outlets until his death in 2023, was honored Friday in the Old Supreme Court Chambers at the Capitol – his plaque displays his belief that 'it's really the public's right to know.'  KBZK
  • On Monday, Governor Gianforte hosted Governor DeSantis in Helena to ask lawmakers to require a balanced federal budget by calling for a Convention of States — a plan that could lead to a Constitutional amendment limiting federal spending. Both leaders met with legislators to explain that slowing spending in Washington will help protect future budgets.  KBZK

  • The Montana Department of Livestock confirmed avian influenza in a backyard poultry flock in Gallatin County that lost six birds in 24 hours.
