  • Three Forks firefighters participated in the Firefighter Stair Climb at Seattle's Columbia Center in memory of Ellie—a four-year-old girl who lost her life to blood cancer last year—climbing over 69 flights of stairs in full gear to raise money for blood cancer research.  KBZK

BUSINESS NEWS

  • Bozeman Yellowstone International Airport reported record-high spring break travel with departing passengers rising about 6% to roughly 5,000 daily compared to 3,500 on a regular day—challenges from ongoing construction are testing capacity but operations remain smooth. This increase is noted as passengers adjust to tighter baggage claim and gate space during the busy season.  KBZK

ECONOMY NEWS

  • Gas prices in Montana fell by 6.3¢ last week and are now averaging $3.08 per gallon as of Monday, March 17. Prices are 1¢ higher than a month ago and 37.7¢ lower than a year ago.  KBZK

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The Big Sky Fire Department partially closed Station 1 after staff discovered cracking in the training room drywall and protruding siding on three bedrooms—an emergency assessment confirmed those areas are unsafe while safe areas will continue to support services.  MontanaRightNow
  • Gallatin County held an information meeting about Hidden Creek, a Bozeman affordable housing project that will build more than 182 units. The county received low-income housing tax credits last fall and the City of Bozeman will review the project soon—construction is planned for August or September.  KBZK
  • Kurt G. Alme was appointed as the interim U.S. Attorney for the District of Montana by Attorney General Pam Bondi and was sworn in by Chief U.S. District Judge Brian Morris on Monday — he will serve for 120 days or until a new nominee is confirmed, replacing Jesse Laslovich.  KBZK
